The Compulsive Gamblers was a band formed by two members of the previous 90's band Oblivians. These fellas kept the on making raunchy garage rock and punk music and in 2000 they made what I feel is a notable release. Crystal Gazing Luck Amazing features all the necessities such as loud guitar, thudding bass and drums, organ and howling vocalizations. The songs are lo-fi and possess no minor degree of dancablity. By far my most loved track on the album is "Rock'n' Roll Nurse" which has been subject to covers since because of its catchy yet eerie sound. They express lust, self-deprecation, and even story-telling (in "Two Thieves"). For garage songs they are longer, all over two minutes, which normally doesn't happen with such musicians. If you liked the Hentchmen I posted earlier, this is another take on what was my foundation exposure to music out of the mainstream.
